DDT German Shepherds

Health tested, titled, temperament tested, and breed standard German Shepherds

Here at Dixie Dog Training and Kennels we raise west German stock coat German Shepherds. We pride ourselves in raising sound, healthy, well socialized and beautiful German shepherds. We aim to preserve the beauty and elegance of this breed by conforming to the breed standard by the AKC and UKC. We participate in many activities such as obedience rallies, dock diving, and occasionally protection. While our dogs do not participate in conformation events we do ensure that our dogs meet or exceed the breed standard. All of our dogs do not get bred until they are 2 years old and have passed all health testing including hips, elbows, hearts, and are clear of Degenerative Myelopathy. Our breeding program is a Purpose Bred breeding program. We breed for the purpose of producing confident, stable, and healthy service dog prospects for our service dog program Dixies Dogs with Purpose

What is a Purpose Bred Breeding Program?

Purpose-breeding is a term used to refer to breeding an animal for a particular purpose. Purpose-bred dogs – obtained through our own breeding program allow us to better control for temperament, health, and overall suitability for Service Dog work. This is key to ensuring that we can get more dogs through training and place more dogs with people in need.

Our breeding program allows us to increase our pool of purpose-bred Service Dogs. Early socialization exposes the puppies to different surfaces, people, sounds and objects. Progressive socialization continues throughout the pup’s training to make sure that when they are matched with a client, they are experienced and confident.

Our Puppies

All of our puppies require an puppy application and puppy contract before being placed in homes. All of our puppies are required to be spayed/neutered no sooner than 1 year or age and no later than 2 years of age. Each puppy comes with a health guarantee, age appropriate vaccinations, and a microchip. We understand that life can throw some unexpected curveballs occasionally that is why we will always resume ownership of one of our dogs if you are unable to keep it. We absolutely do not allow our dogs to be placed in the shelter systems or to be rehomed independently by their owners. We will never turn down taking back one of our dogs regardless of the situation.

From birth all of our puppies are started on E.N.S. (Early Neurologic Stimulation). E.N.S is defined as the application of five specific brief daily manipulations to pups from birth until 2–3 weeks of age. This approach has been adopted by many kennels and promoted as a means to improve the future performance of working dogs. At 5 weeks of age all puppies begin outdoor elimination training and kennel training. At 6 weeks of age puppies begin desensitization to many different stimuli and environments they will encounter in their life. At 7 weeks of age puppies are temperament tested and matched with their owners. While we do aim to match puppies according to the owners desired traits and colors, ultimately our puppies are matched based on which puppy would best fit your lifestyle and be the most successful in their new homes. Puppies are sent to their new homes no sooner than 9 weeks of age. We aim to set both you and our puppies up for nothing but success and prosperity!
